Thanks to the generous support of the Gwynt y Mor Community Fund, St John’s Methodist Church, Llandudno, is creating a greener, more welcoming outdoor space for everyone to enjoy.

The Garden Club was established to transform an underused area outside the church into a community garden and seating area. With support from the grant, we have purchased six wooden picnic tables, three wooden trough planters, peat-free compost and plants, helping us create a space where people can sit, relax, meet others and enjoy the outdoors.

A Community Garden

The project is about much more than planting flowers. We want to create a garden that belongs to the whole community.

Members of the local community have already supported the project by donating seeds and soil, and our Garden Club currently has six people helping to develop and maintain the space. We are continuing to encourage people to share plants, seeds, cuttings, gardening knowledge and, most importantly, their time.

We originally planned to build our own planting beds from railway sleepers. However, rising costs meant that railway sleepers had become significantly more expensive than originally anticipated. We therefore found a more affordable alternative and purchased three ready-made wooden trough planters through Barnardo’s, supporting the charity while obtaining quality garden products supplied by Rowlinson Garden Products. This has allowed us to make good use of the grant while progressing the garden more quickly.

Come and Join Us

St John’s Garden Club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 10am.

Whether you are an experienced gardener or have never planted anything before, everyone is welcome.

You can get involved by:

• Planting and caring for the garden
• Bringing plants, seeds or cuttings
• Sharing your gardening knowledge
• Meeting new people and making friends
• Helping us create a greener community space

You don't need to be a gardening expert — just come along and be part of the community.
