The people at St John's Methodist in Llandudno are doing great work offering residents a Warm Space this winter from the church hall on Mostyn Street.
Helping strengthen our communities is a part of Our Plan so I'm always eager to learn about what is happening and offer any help. This week I had the chance to stop in to hear about their work and speak with some of those visiting.
I arrived during the lunch session and chatted with the Minister Nigel over a cup of tea and a bacon roll. Slowly, the room started to transform as diners got up and left, returning to their shopping and the business of their day. The tables were rearranged, jigsaws came out and other, new faces came in.
Nigel explained that in fact, most of those who come along do not speak about their heating bills, or the cold. But they come for companionship and as a way of helping themselves face whatever challenges they are dealing with, including mental health and wellbeing.
I share his view that lives can be transformed – and through initiatives like this. The plan is it will continue as a "Warm Welcome" into the milder spring and summer months.
Thank you to all the team there serving the community!
